PACE Speaker Series - A Closer Look at Early Drawings with Andy Peters

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday November 12

6:00 PM  –  7:00 PM

As the exhibit 'Council Bluffs History Through Art’ comes to a close we take a look at the artistry of the collection as a whole. Join us for an artist’s viewpoint on drawings and paintings of this area done over 170 years ago! Artist George Simons was commissioned by his friend and mentor Grenville M. Dodge to create the exacting works. Completed in the age before photography, they amount to a priceless diary of a frontier town. Visible on our streets are Pottawattamie People, Mormons, Forty-niners, Millers, Traders, and Drovers among familiar and extinct landmarks. It is a tribute to this great artist and PACE’s permanent collection.
